Visual stories from the wild — raw, intimate, and unforgettable.
Enter the GallerySurrounded by the majestic mountains of Montana, just a stone’s throw from Yellowstone National Park, Michaela began commandeering her grandmother’s point-and-shoot camera at a young age. It got to the point where her grandmother could hardly take any pictures, as Michaela had already run off with the camera or filled yet another SD card.
Finally, enough was enough. One day while out shopping, her grandmother decided to buy Michaela her very own simple point-and-shoot camera — so hers would stop being stolen. Armed with her own camera, Michaela quickly fell in love with capturing the art in everyday life.
During high school, Michaela took digital photography classes and discovered a deep love for macro photography — showcasing the beauty in the patterns and textures we encounter daily. That passion led her to enroll in the Photography program at Montana State University, where she studied for about a year. The film-centric curriculum broadened her creative interests, and the grainy, high-contrast style of film photography paired perfectly with her abstract editing style. Michaela embraced increasing grain, contrast, and saturation to transform photographs into pieces that feel almost painterly.
After traveling from one side of the U.S. to the other, Michaela eventually settled in a breathtaking slice of paradise: Alaska. Surrounded by glaciers, towering mountains, and abundant wildlife, her photographic focus shifted once again. With such inspiring natural beauty all around, who could resist taking a photo?
